Self-Care is Not Selfish
For those of you that think self-care is selfish, think again. Self-care is an incredibly important part of your wellbeing, allowing you to be the best mom and person you can be. Self-care is all about prioritizing yourself for a period of time to refresh, relax, and rejuvenate. Moms who prioritize their own self-care are more patient and productive than those moms who don’t make time for self-care. Self-care aficionados are more relaxed and focussed on meeting the demands of motherhood.
If you’re the type who feels like a guilty mom whenever you put yourself first, remember the wise advice you hear from the flight attendant during the safety checks before your plane takes off. They instruct you if the oxygen mask falls down to first put the mask on your face before assisting others. And yes, this includes your kids. The reason is they need you to be strong, safe, and taken care of in order to best take care of the kids. Participating in self-care is no different. Taking care of your body, mind, and emotional self first provides you the strength you need to be the best mom and best version of yourself you can possibly be.
