Self-Care Sundays
I don’t know about you, but the Sunday Scaries are real around here. You know the feeling: the weekend is coming to a close and a new week is about to begin. There are so many stressors that can make an ordinary Sunday feel like a nightmare: laundry, groceries, preparing for school and work, the list goes on and on forever. What if we change the narrative on the Sunday Scaries and turn it into Self-Care Sunday instead? Here are some ways to make sure you’re taking care of yourself before a new week starts.
Food
Nourishing your body with healthy and balanced foods is important to feeling your best. On Sundays you can meal prep easy lunches or dinners to make your life a little easier throughout the week. Or, if you’re the type of person who loves making an elaborate meal, take the time on a Sunday to cook something you might not ordinarily get to like a roast or something that takes more time and effort. If you enjoy baking, take some time out of your Sunday to bake bread, muffins, or a treat for you and your family to enjoy all week long.
Exercise
Getting some type of exercise each day is crucial to our mental and physical health. Maybe on Sundays you treat yourself to a longer hike outside on a favorite trail or by attending a yoga class. Even something as simple as a walk around your neighborhood counts as exercise!
Ready for Work
Check your calendar for the week and write out a realistic task list for each day. Not only does this help you go into the week with a clear idea of what you already have scheduled, but it helps divide the work into manageable pieces. If you have to go into the office, plan your outfits for the week on Sundays so you know exactly what to wear. Consider meal prepping for lunches too!
Ready for School
Getting prepared for a week of school is just as important for your kids as it is for you! Take a look at the school lunch menu and help them decide what they’re having for lunch each day. Set aside outfits to make getting ready in the morning easy as can be. Go through their backpacks with them and make sure there aren’t any lingering forms or items that need attention.
By making time to both do some relaxing preparation and have some fun, you can turn your Sunday Scaries into Self-Care Sundays in a snap.
