Ways to Practice Self Love
It’s the first day of February and as we enter the month of love it’s time to think about how we can practice self love in our everyday lives. Embracing self-love isn't a luxury but a necessity for overall well-being and resilience. Oftentimes moms can neglect their own self love when they put others before themselves. But taking part in self love practices not only benefits you as a person, but also models how this looks for your kids. Here's a guide to help you lean into self-love this February.
Be more mindful: Carve out small moments of mindfulness each day. Take time to sit in the present moment and notice what you feel. Practicing mindfulness is a great way to reduce stress and be more aware of things happening in the moment.
Get creative: Engaging in creative activities is a fantastic way to express yourself and foster self-love. Explore hobbies you’re passionate about, revisit one you haven’t tried in a while, or start a new creative journey. Creating space for creativity can be both fulfilling and rejuvenating.
Connect with nature: Spending time outdoors can be therapeutic, even in the winter months. Pause to experience the sights and sounds of nature even if it’s from your own backyard.
Prioritize rest: Adequate rest is a cornerstone of self-love. Moms often sacrifice their rest and sleep for the sake of others. Listen to your body and rest when you feel tired.
Nourish your body: Make conscious choices about the food you consume on a daily basis and choose foods that fill you up and make you feel good. And don’t forget to stay hydrated throughout your day!
Celebrate achievements: Moms often downplay their achievements but you should celebrate both big and small victories. Boost your self esteem by praising yourself for everything you’ve accomplished.
Cultivate gratitude: Practicing gratitude is a powerful way to shift focus from challenges to blessings. Write down things you are thankful for each day, no matter how big or small. This practice can enhance positive thinking and foster a sense of contentment.
